Projektinformationen

The project's vision is a change of course towards so called animal-cyber systems (ACS) in veterinary medicine and farm animal welfare. The purpose of this planning grant is to elaborate on a qualification concept on how farm animal welfare can benefit from the proper usage of networking, big data analytics, pervasive connectivity and computing, as well as artificial intelligence. Farm animal welfare is a rather neglected and closed domain, primarily for commercial reasons. The groups take a radically different scientific approach where veterinary scientists gain the key knowledge to evaluate the proper usage of various technologies and applications to service veterinary medicine and animal welfare, to work together with computer engineers, to solve questions that do not presuppose any specific answer and do not adapt to any mainstream technological, commercial or societal trends. The groups will also take a critical stand on possible limitations of computer engineering to solve veterinary medicine problems.
