Projektinformationen

The purpose of the project is not just to research the type and dynamics of institutional changes of Georgian and international criminal laws, but to deal with practical problems, to change and compare the main points of the research for flexible and productive criminal justice. For the rationale and objectives of the project, several relevant research fields should be emphasized, such as 'international relations in times of globalization and regionalization', 'rule of law', 'awareness of right and wrong', 'governance', 'conflict resolution'. The objective of the project is to analyze the newest concepts of international criminal law (courts), mainly based on the law and practice of the International Criminal Court. The role of international criminal law in Georgia is very relevant, especially, in connection with the ongoing investigation of the International Criminal Court on the situation in Georgia (in relation to crimes in the context of an international armed conflict between Georgia and Russia in 2008). The situation is very important in international criminal law as well (not only for Georgia) since: (1) this is the first investigative situation for the International Criminal Court in Europe (outside Africa), (2) in the framework of the International Armed Conflict, (3) against a permanent member of the UN Security Council (Russian Federation).
