Projektinformationen

Connected and autonomous vehicles (CAV) could play a key role in granting sustainable and affordable mobility on societal scale. To exploit the disruptive potential of CAV responsibly, it is vital for the technology-induced change to be socially rooted. Hence, the project aims at investigating how individual and system inherent factors influence trust in and willingness to relinquish control to CAV. Beyond that, the team will explore philosophical and ethical questions stemming from the new dimensions of trust and control opened up by the interaction with objects to which human qualities like "intelligence" or "fallibility" are being attributed. In order to define a methodological approach that fully exploits the synergies of the project´s interdisciplinary expertise in informatics, Virtual/Augmented Reality (VR/AR), social robotics, psychology and philosophy planning phase will be used to: (1) conduct a pre-study using a driving simulator to deduct an evaluation scheme combining neuro cognitive feedback and social research methods (2) plan a VR system for exploring trust for future AI-driven mobility scenarios and (3) reflect the findings in a public discourse to inform research focus and methods for the Full Grant. Thus the consortium wants to contribute to a sustainable and socially responsible implementation of CAV - for both a mobile and worthwhile society of the future. The team consists of researchers from Coburg University of Applied Sciences, the Technical University of Munich and the University of Bamberg.
