Initiative: Dokumentation bedrohter Sprachen (beendet)
Bewilligung: 01.07.2014
Laufzeit: 2 Jahre

Projektinformationen

Target language of this documentation project is the Dene, an Athabascan language spoken in Canada. The Canadian-German documentation project develops an interdisciplinary approach. As the community of Déline makes a transition to self government, there has been an increased interest in stories, song, and concepts of place in order to better understand what "self government" means in the Dene culture. Governance thus is one focal point of this research. Complementing this, the project involves the development of an indigenous research methodology with respect to language research. In the extension period, more language data is being annotated, language material of younger Dene members integrated and the PhD thesis of the doctoral candidate Ingeborg Fink finished.
