Projektinformationen

Ongoing urbanization leads to an increasing isolation from nature. Consequently, common diseases, stress and discomfort are rising among the population in cities. At the same time, progress in scientific domains such as bioelectronics and synthetic biology, allow to research, design and control our living environments. It is intended to use these new possibilities to develop quantifiable biosystems able to increase the health and comfort of our urban habitats. The long-term vision is to reach a point where living organisms become the core component of any technical building service and use their biological functions to improve indoor hygiene and our well-being. The planning grant will allow the applicants to identify and prioritize the competences in bioscience that are needed, to build up a network and to elaborate suitable qualification methods for the team of engineers and designers to realize their vision.
