Projektinformationen
The project aims at modernizing legal education and research in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan as well as establishing a sustainable academic infrastructure. Activities target academic qualification of Azerbaijani and Kazakh legal scholars as well as development of institutional infrastructure in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Germany. The trilateral collaborative effort is the continuation of the previously funded project ?Transition of Economic Law and Infrastructure for Legal Research in Azerbaijan: Developments and Challenges" dealing with the fundamental reform of legal education in Azerbaijan. In addition, the leading law university of Kazakhstan - KAZGUU - will be involved in the current co-operation. The core element of the project is the tailored PhD training of seven Azerbaijani and Kazakh legal scholars at the Graduate School for Foreign Doctoral Students in Law (GRAD) at the MLU. Project participants including Dr. Aliyev as well as PhD candidates will be involved in teaching activities at the bachelor and master level of ADA and KAZGUU. All PhD candidates will be employed by their home universities which offer attractive contracts and an excellent research infrastructure. Furthermore, the project will enable Dr. Aliyev, an Azerbaijani legal scholar appointed as junior professor for International Economic Law and Comparative Law with a special focus on Central Asia and the Caucasus, to complete his habilitation (qualification for a tenured professorship) at MLU, and to lead an international group of researchers which is an important component of postdoctoral qualification. The Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan will make funds of 410,000 Euro available for scholarships of Azerbaijani PhD students. Furthermore, the Rectorate and the Law Faculty of MLU will support the professorship of Dr. Aliyev with substantial funds for staff.
