Projektinformationen
On the winter pastures impacts of elevated stocking rates are already visible and lead to negative consequences regarding quality and productivity of pastures. However, currently there is no systematic assessment of the actual pasture condition which could locate signs of degradation spatially and thus could constitute the basis for an improvement of the situation. As a gradual decrease of pasture quality is difficult to notice for land users and administration officials the local perception of degradation problems is insufficient as well. In order to tackle this problem effectively practical methods are needed to assess pasture condition as well as pasture management by land users. In addition, the existence and application of objective methods to describe pasture condition contributes to awareness raising among land users and administrative bodies for the problem of decreasing pasture quality and its causes. Therefore, the project aims at developing and testing a pasture monitoring manual for the winter pastures of Azerbaijan, which could be applied by pasture administration in communication with the local land users.
