Projektinformationen
The Aché Language Studies Project is investigating the history and mechanisms of contact-induced language change observable in Aché, an endangered indigenous language of Paraguay. In an interdisciplinary study, ALSP works on a morphosyntactic comparison between Aché and Guarani, (to which Aché is shifting) and also examines the semiotic and cultural practices underlying that language shift. Portions of the previous Aché Language Documentation Project data is being reannotated for these purposes and supplemented with ethnohistorical information. ALSP aims not only at contributing to studies of language contact and shift, but also at providing a more accurate genetic classification of the Aché language.
