Projektinformationen

TThe research program focuses on the steering function of law ("regulation"). The goal is to empirically analyse and compare different regulatory instruments using well-established methods of quantitative empirical social research. Primarily, statistical data will be used but it is also planned to assemble data-sets using field experiments, lab experiments and virtual reality experiments. The studies will focus on two exemplary topics. The first field of research comprises capital markets and corporations, the second field is the "Verkehrswende", i.e. the efforts to significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions by cars. There is an enormous potential for legal research on the real-world consequences of regulation. The findings of this research are of high relevance for basic research as well as for application by legislators, public authorities, and courts. It is the aim of the research program to systematically develop this new field of research.
