Projektinformationen

Curiosity is one of the core mechanisms underlying children's exploration and play. It motivates us to learn, but also guides our choices of what to learn and how to learn it. In this sense, understanding how children's early experiences shape cognitive and neural systems that support curiosity is crucial for developing tools and learning environments that support children's learning, in classroom settings and beyond. Our project "Towards a science of curiosity" brings together methods and insights from developmental psychology, cognitive science, and robotics to answer these questions, with the goal of formalizing a new science of curiosity. With the initiative "Curiosity Exhibition on Wheels" (CREW) - a digital exhibition traveling around Berlin on electric Cargo bikes over the summer - we aim to communicate in a transparent, engaging, interactive way the results of our project, integrating them with insights from other relevant work from education and developmental psychology. In doing so,we hope to sparkle and fuel people's interest in the specific topic of our proposal, and in empirical research more generally.
